    Dead on it seems.........
  • I emailed garmin (they already have this listed for support questions) to see if this has 'TrafficTrends' or 'MyTrends' included in it.

I read where when you input a destination this pulls up a google street view image which also appears when you arrive.

It also appears to pull up traffic camera locations for viewing which is a nice add in and can take an address from the web browser, text message, email, calendar appointment or contact and link it to the gps function.

Unfortunately some of the services will be premium and then new maps will be additional also most likely.

    Tmobile's official link is up:

Assuming Garmin gets TrafficTrends and a good quality live traffic system installed, this would be a very compelling product for me to buy. But the big dealbreaker is the 3.5" screen, too small to feel safe for my primary navigation device.

Hopefully, a 5" App-enabled MID that tethers to a flip phone will be available sometime soon. Android or WinMo7 looks like they're the most promising in that regard.
  • They didn't break the bank on the processor for this phone. Its a Qualcomm that was announced over a year ago with sub $150 smart phones in mind according to search results. Maybe this will be priced like the Nokia Nutron.

The specs mention indoor location as a part of the package and keeping track of where your car is parked.

Free lifetime maps would be nice if included since the comp is doing that both Nokia and TomTom.

How long before there is a TomTom phone? Any guesses?

Interestingly, PC Mag took the page down and no Google cache available............
  • Tim 1468 Points
I can still see the page... :?:
  • patruns 10 Points
ahh.... now I see it. Said page not found 5 times before. :)
  • Garmin's response about whether this includes TrafficTrends or MyTrends shows a bit more training may be required before they start answering questions on that product.

I responded with the info again and clearly stated that those are their names for their products. Lets see if a 2nd option gets it.

    Dear Jim D,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I will be happy to help you out with this. Unfortunately at this point in time we do not have any information available on this program. There is a possibility that the phone with will work with the software but there is no way for us to guarantee that it will be compatible.

Somewhat off topic, but I read the GarminFone specs, and it's funny what legal liability makes people say:

    Safety Cameras

Receive safety camera alerts and stay safe and secure on your travels.
I once saw a CEO of a radar detector company on cnbc a few years back. It was funny how they danced around what their product actually is supposed to do.
  • Imagine a company comes out with a product but knows nothing about it.

Their second response from the same csr though.

    Dear Jim D,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

As of now we do not know if the phone will have traffic trends or not. The phone will have real-time traffic available. I have provided a link below to our website where you can view the specs of the phone. Here is the link
