Voice Activation and third party maps

in GPS Recommendations
I'm considering a Garmin GPS with voice activation such as the 2597LMT or 2797LMT. Will this work with third party maps such as Open Street Maps (OSM)? They have a map of Costa Rica which I could use instead of buying the Garmin map for the whole of South America.

    Yes but whether they will be address searchable like the Garmin maps is unlikely.
