GPS Help for a Van driver

I drive a E250 van for work and end up near NYC where i have to contend with restricted roads based on my weight and at times i am considered a commerical vehicle. I have an old GPS and use my phone as well. I am looking for a cheaper unit that will allow me to stay off the parkways and restricted roads and bridges in the city.

I am not looking to break the bank most places i can get to just fine but it would be nice not to have to find weird ways around things. My other must have is the option to tell the damn thing i don't want to go on a certain road. My old garmin i have now does not allow me to do that so its always trying to bring me back to the main road i am trying to stay off of.

Garmin makes the Dezl series that has features for this kind of thing. Whether it will do exactly what you want is hard to say, you could purchase from a place that has a liberal return/exchange policy (Amazon?) and try for yourself, I suspect that's the only way to know for sure.

ALK has the CoPilot Truck app which I believe is popular with truckers too, I think it's a free download so you can check it out, then you need to purchase in the app:
