Line from home to my destination

If I prepare a route, download it to my Oregon 650, go to my destination and do the walk and save it, I find there is a straight line showing on my PC from my home to the start of the walk. Any ideas why, please

Yes. Your Oregon got a satellite lock at your home location. To prevent these lines ensure you clear the trip log once you have a lock at the start of your walk. Also if you want just a log of your walk ensure you do a Save current track at the end of the walk otherwise you might get more straight lines from the end point. Note if you use BaseCamp to view your tracks you can easily delete these straight lines.
