The Garmin software archive is gone

Many of us have used the archive of Garmin firmware at http://www.gawisp.com/perry/ Well it seems to be gone now. When I go to that link it says the site has been suspended. I assume that means the bill isn't being paid anymore? There was a problem with this site being compromised last year, but someone was able to reach the owner who corrected the problem. This time is a bit different.

The classic site http://gpsinformation.net also seems to be gone, and I think these sites were operated by the same people. The way things are going, there aren't going to be many resources left for owners of dedicated GPS units.

Might be helpful.. The few download links I tried actually worked.

That's weird. I forgot to follow up here, but I was told the owner of that site put it back online a couple weeks after I made my first post. Now it seems to be gone again, will see what I can find out.

At least http://gpsinformation.net/ is back online again. :)

Well, this may be the end of that archive. I asked over at GPSFileDepot where user "Red90" knows Allory Deiss who owns the site. Here is his response. :(

"The basic story is they host on GoDaddy and their site was part of the security breach earlier this year. While getting it back up GD noticed the large storage usage from the archive folder and told them they would need to move to a professional plan at 20 times the cost.

So, it still exists. They just are not willing to pay huge money to host it."
