2595 Won't power up

My 2595 worked fine last time I used it a few months ago, and sat in the house until I tried to turn it on recently and it only stays on a few seconds, maybe to the "loading maps" part, then shuts off, even when plugged in. If the battery is bad, could that make it not power up even when plugged in?

Check out the instructions from Garmin at this page, and watch the video. https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=TiDz048p5C6qe2dMv5tNU7
Your GPS may need a lengthy recharge, or a soft reset. Still, the 2595 is getting old and it may need a replacement battery.
Also, check that the LED on your power cable lights up, indicating that it is working. If not, check the fuse in the cable.

The short answer is yes, a bad battery might make it fail to power up even when plugged in.

Your GPS may need a lengthy recharge, or a soft reset. Still, the 2595 is getting old and it might not be able to hold a decent charge anymore and need a replacement battery. If you want to try replacing it yourself, you can find instruction videos on line. I recommend watching one before trying. Its not very difficult but you could break something that is not worth sending back to Garmin for a repair.

If the GPS is plugged in and receiving current, you should see a lightning bolt symbol over the battery bar graph indicating that it is charging. If not then it could also be a bad USB socket keeping the GPS from charging.
