Backing up map data??

My 5100 is on the way and I'm wondering if it makes sense to use a card reader and back up the map data to my PC?

I've read that these units used to come with a 4 GB card and the 2 GB cards are pretty full. I'd like to be able to switch to a 4 GB card if and when the map/POI upgrades become available and I need space.

Thoughts??

  • No only do I suggest you back up your 2 Gig SD Card to a 4 Gig, but also a faster style card as well.

see this link for card explanation:

You don't need a card reader. Simply download the Navigon program called Navigon Fresh and connect the 5100 to your computer. Click on the 'Backup' button and it will back up the units info to your computer. Also don't get a 4 gig card! Navigon reports that it will give you less performance.
