Stupid Question of the Week

I have both the Maestro 4000 and 4050. I noticed that my 4000 has a small hole in the same location as the 4050 which I believe is the internal microphone. Ok, I was wondering, is this possible.... Could I back up the software of my 4000 unit and then copy over a backup of the 4050 unit.

The only reason I thought of this is the recent release of software by Magellan to "activate" the voice control on the 4040 units. Were these units all built with the same hardware only to be activated later by a software release, of course, with a fee?

I know this is a ridiculous question, but I thought I would give it a go.

  • If you mean the small hole in the lower right of the unit, I have the same hole in a 3100 which has no voice capabilities. I think they just use the same bezels for all of their units and change the guts of them to save money.
