The garmin link was down this morning, so I was unable to update before leaving for work...
maybe that was an omen?
As always, take these kinds of reports with a grain of salt. But I still never want to be the first kid on the block with any Garmin firmware, especially beta.
I will look over there later 2nite... Garmin even states that beta's are at your own risk, so they do not have to replace your unit if you brick it... I might end up waiting until the next full release myself!
Thank you, Boyd!
I think it's best to avoid these beta releases myself...
All seems OK thus far today...

But I am still on some very old firmware. Will wait to see some user feedback before I try this, but I'm tempted. :)

Yet another reason why I don't bother with these beta's, it involves too much firmware re-installation. :)

I will be heading out soon on a short drive/hike to see how it all works. I had been running some very old firmware (3.60) until now, so there are a lot of changes. The first thing that struck me was how map scrolling is now much more fluid. And I *love* being able to switch between track-up/north-up by just tapping the compass icon. They should add this feature to all their devices. :)
I had quite a bit of trouble restoring my Profiles from backups until I remembered to first delete them ALL from the Oregon, reboot, then copy from the archives and reboot.
fun times!
Just got back from my outing and everything seems to work fine. Will be taking a longer trip in the next couple days. Regarding the more responsive screen, that seems like a mixed blessing. When you first drag the map it is very fast, but that leaves a blank area that was originally off-screen. And it seems to take a long time to fully refresh the entire screen and fill in that blank area. The end result seems as though it takes longer now to fully refresh the screen after dragging the map.
When I went through my profiles and disabled the extra maps, everything started working very well. I have read about this update bug before, and also about corrupting your profiles. It's a minor annoyance, but I wish they could do something about it.
