I'm seeing on other forums where The latest Base Camp isn't working for some folks with windows 10. How long have we known about win 10????????? Garmin has had nothing but trouble since day one with Base Camp. Time to trash it and update Mapsource to work on win 10
Just to balance this there are a few folks having issues, but many not with Win10. Like every program sometimes it's the computer at fault, one guy having issues had forgotten he'd done a windows update and hadn't rebooted as required. Once he'd done that BaseCamp installed without issue :)
Having said that 4.6.2 has just been released to cure what Garmin describe as a 'common crash' on some systems, hasn't happened on mine ...
I don't use Basecamp often, but I have Win 10 on my machine and Basecamp works fine for me. I did have an install issue with the latest update 4.6.2. While updating from the basecamp install updates option it detected basecamp running and automatically closed it...... without asking if I needed to save anything...... and soon thereafter failed claiming basecamp was still running. A second attempt failed claiming another installer was still running. However "third times a charm" after restarting windows to ensure all spurious processes would not be running, it successfully installed and works correctly.
Though I admit I use and like the old MapSource program slightly more. Perhaps it's because my old marine gps's require it.
As far as Windows 10 goes, for me this is the best version of Windows yet and in fact many of my old Win XP games work better on Win 10 than they did on both WinXP and Win7. And this is physically the same machine that I ran WinXP and Win7 on. Now my biggest OS problems are with my Macbook pro.
Sat down today to really dig into BC on the Win 10 machine. Thought I would work on the short routes, 150 to 200 miles, for this summer's trip. Turned out to be a time waster as one route I never could keep it from routing me through a parking lot. A simple click and drag in Mapsource. The latest version of BC still won't launch Google Earth at the closest zoom level like Mapsource. It's still the whole selected route or nothing. Maybe some day this will be a useful program but not at present. Or does some one out there have a real users manual?

Though I admit I use and like the old MapSource program slightly more. Perhaps it's because my old marine gps's require it.
As far as Windows 10 goes, for me this is the best version of Windows yet and in fact many of my old Win XP games work better on Win 10 than they did on both WinXP and Win7. And this is physically the same machine that I ran WinXP and Win7 on. Now my biggest OS problems are with my Macbook pro.
It's really easy when you know how. BaseCamp will 'rubber band' also just like Mapsource.
