Personally, I archive all of the Garmin map downloads (along with firmware updates, etc) to DVD just to have a backup. You don't need to keep it unless you want a backup. As for reusing the same download for updating maps on another GPS unit: Yes and no...Yes, you can use the same download,BUT...You will need to purchase an additional unlock code/map update for the additional unit that you wish to update. The unit must qualify for the update and will be checked/verified while online when running the update. If you have not purchased an unlock code/map update for the unit, the installer will let you know.
what you mean by "yes you can" were you basically meaning you can save someone the time from downloading it?
what do you think of the NuMaps Lifetime card that Garmin issues? Worth it?
what do you think of the NuMaps Lifetime card that Garmin issues? Worth it?If you plan on keeping your GPS for longer than a year or two, it is worth it, at least to me. If you buy the newest GPS unit that Garmin releases every few months, it is NOT worth it since you automatically get the most current maps with the new unit anyways. That said, I have personally purchased nuMaps Lifetime.
I just picked up a 265wt a week ago. There is very little chance a newer 2010 map set will come out within 60 days, right? So take the current 2010 as my numaps guarantee?Sean
Thank you for contacting Garmin International. The next update should be released during the first part of July. With Best Regards, Henry L Product Support Specialist Garmin International
Many of us have the latest maps...what area and what changes are you curious about...Honestly though, the changes in YOUR area that you know about don't need updating :) after all - you know about them...both my sisters & bro-in-laws bought matching 660's about 3 years ago or so and never updated the maps and have been rv'ing around the country without issue....Maybe it didn't have the newest things, but they found their way :)They were happy campers until they saw mine and tried to find our new house on their's
Is it clearly indicated anywhere that you only get ONE map update within the first 60 days ?
Limit of one free map update per unit.
The following map data is more than a year old and should be updatedCN North America NT 2010.10To purchase updated map data, go tohttp://www.garmin.com/mapupdates
@911medic:In the 2010.10 map, there are interchanges for CR-37 (NE 70th St?) and CR-42 (River Road NE?), but none for CR-39 (95th St NE? / 90th St NE?).Both problems with Odean Avenue were corrected.
Last night I downloaded the 2010.10 maps for my Nuvi 205 and tonight I installed them. The installation defaulted to installing ALL of North America and not just the lower 48 like the 205 comes with. Sure enough the map info after the update now says ALL instead of the older indication of just the lower 48. I put in a route to deep into Canada and was able to view the maps in great detail out in the central Canada area. Was that a glitch in the installer that made it default to All of North America since the 205 is supposed to only do part of it? I just clicked through the steps and left all the defaults and it worked, so I'll use it that way. It's not like I ever plan to drive to Canada or Alaska, but I guess now I can use my GPS up there too.
They are getting late .. I want my 4 updates/year, dammit.
Can someone please post here as soon as the next update is available? (2010.2 I would guess.) I'm in about day 45 of my first 60 days, and I'd like to get the most bang for my buck by waiting for 2010.2 for my one free update. Thanks!
Map updates due to their size and the amount of installation time are not something I enjoy downloading multiple times and testing for Garmin.
