TomTom Plus Traffice Service pricing? Wed Aug 08, 2007 4:39 pm
I have the GO 720, and I'd like to try out the TomTom Plus traffic service using bluetooth. I have a Verizon Blackberry phone with a data plan. I see I can get 30 days for free, but I can't find the pricing on the TomTom site. Does anyone know what the pricing is? I did find a price in pounds, but I'd like the US price. Has anyone tried this on the 720 using Verizon?
I'm on Sprint not Verizon but I did get traffic working on my 720. It was kind of a pain because the TomTom Plus site didn't seem to know that the traffic is availabale in the USA. I had this problem before trying to buy it for TT6 Navigator for my PDA. So I just took a gamble and bought it anyway and said I needed traffic for Great Britain. It charged me 39.95 pounds which converted to $53.35. And it works fine.
Getting data to work on my Sprint PPC6700 was a real adventure, but that's another story...

Dave,
Good to know. I did see the $39.95 GBP price from google, but no price when I went in as a US customer. Kind of strange they don't have US pricing yet. Anyway, my Blackberry 8703e has an unlimited data plan, but I don't think it supports DUN over bluetooth (according to the Verizon site). Is that a showstopper, or is there another way to get the traffic data over bluetooth besides DUN?

I did the same thing and got traffic using the same method. I signed up for the Great Britain traffic and it's working great. I've used it in the midwest and New Jersey. I love the functionality even tho it cost $53.35...

If you manage to get it working with your blackberry I'd be interested as well, as I have the 8830 with TELUS. So far still no luck in trying to set it up with my 720.
