PostDoes Crossover Traffic Work for Anyone?  Mon Dec 24, 2007 6:23 pm    Reply to topic Reply with quote

Have had an issue with this since last May. Have replaced the cradle and the Crossover Unit - same symptoms. Locks on to the Navteq signal, but never indicates there is traffic, even in major traffic jams and construction events. Have spent many, many frustrating and sometimes bizarre calls to India (apparently), which are beginning to feel very much like a deliberate run-around. Am beginning to think that traffic does not work in the Crossover, period, based on other posts here. Has ANYONE had success with their Crossover TrafficKit?

A follow-up. I did contact Mr. Finelli, who responded immediately and said he was sending this to an escalation team. After about a week and a half, no response. An no response from a follow-up email to Mr. Finelli. Meanwhile, I've found that they charged my credit card for the replacement Crossover unit the day I received it (which, by the way, has the same issues as the "defective" unit in receiving traffic). All I am looking for at the moment, is an RMA number, and an address to send the unit to. After a month, and many many hours of effort, I have been unsuccessful in getting either. And I am, apparently, out $350, though I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. I thought, in this country, in this age, in doing business with a large established company, that one was relatively immune from swindling and overt fraud. I am mistaken. I'm not particularly fond of lawsuits - I prefer gentlemanly business, but I am at present a willing candidate for a class action suit...

A follow-up. Got a call from "Rachel", from Magellan. They are crediting my account for the money I spent on the TraffiKit for my Crossover, as it "hasn't worked for me". This was unsolicited, though I do have a dispute outstanding with my credit card company for the $350 they charged me for a replacement Crossover unit (for the same problem), without providing an RMA or shipping address for the old one.

The plot thickens...

A final follow-up. My dispute for the $350 charge was resolved in my favor. Unbelievable, but they settled, instead of issuing me an RMA, despite my continued assurances that an RMA was all I wanted. In the meantime, they withdrew their $105 credit for the TraffiKit (they initiated an unauthorized charge to my credit card account, AFTER crediting the refund), stating they had already credited me for it. I have disputed that with my credit card company as well, since it was for a different unit, and have won the dispute. I still have never received any confirmation that anyone has gotten traffic to work in the Crossover, and Magellan's actions seem to confirm it. Caveat Emptor...

I have not gotten any re-routes or traffic warnings. Confused
The unit does search and finds stations that send info.
I was disappointed in the lack of information in the manual.
I would like to know what all the connector ports on the sides are for and
what types of plugs it need to use. there is one labled mic and speaker and
power on one side, on the other side is one marked fm, another that I am guessing is a GPS ext. antenea (size/type unknown), and one that is a two prong plug.
Any help?

My CrossOverGPS traffic function as it should! Not sure if there is issue or conflict with yours.
I have updated to the latest mapping software V2 and the Traffic function.
Is your traffic subscription over? Ask for a 3 months NEW traffic code and give it a try again.

Good Luck
