Replacement Parts for MSN Direct Receiver Sun Mar 02, 2008 9:04 pm
I am new to this forum and feeling my way. I would like to ask a question. I have a new Garmin 680 under warranty. Somehow I have broken the threaded black end of my MSN Direct Receiver. The part that retains the fuse and holds the contact tip in place is broken at the base of the threads. I was able to extract all of the parts from my vehicle power outlet. I have sent a request for assistance to Garmin support, but I have not received a reply. Can you tell me if this is something you have heard of or experienced before? Do you see any remedy for this problem? My subscription to the MSN service is activated and running, so I am concern about repairing or replacing the receiver.
Thanks,
I've broken that same piece several times before, but never on one of the traffic receiver models. Short of someone else saying they've done it before, you probably won't know too much until you get a response from Garmin. But it is certainly good that you are still under warranty.
Tim,
I thought I would give you some feedback on my problem and the resolution. I first attempted to contact Garmin support on the day I ask my original question by sending them an email because it was a weekend. I received no reply as of today.
I decided to call the support 800 number and the results were immediate. I spoke to a very knowledgeable representative and she immediately gave me a RMA number after I provided my serial number. It would appear my problem is fixed. I thought I would give some positive feedback on Garmin's customer support and service. Sometimes good service can be taken for granted.
Thanks again for a forum to request and share information.
