PostHow to perform a factory reset on your iPAQ 300  Tue Mar 04, 2008 12:46 am    Reply to topic Reply with quote

Deleting all the files from the /ipaq/nav/save directory and deleting the file /ipaq/os/sqdb does the trick. That's what I did on mine when it started giving FAE's every time I picked a location within a specific area and so far, the problem is gone. Haven't had a recurrence all day/

Understand however that in doing so, you wipe out all your personal data (contacts, playlists, custom POIs, saved routes ...) And if you use the backup recovery module, odds are that you will import the same problem back in again.

So basically, once you decide that a hard reset is necessary, you can say goodbye to everything else you had saved, start from scratch.

I din't think you would ever want to part from it, at least not voluntarily! Shocked

Yes, you can but if the problem existed before you did your first back up, restoring the device will simply bring the problem right back.

good point, that's why its always recommended to do a full backup the moment the box is opened (which i believe is similar to creating a recovery disk).

Not the same.

There is stuff in the ROM and there are permanent changes to the registry that only flashing the ROm can change/undo.

Here is the real factory reset, where the registry data is reset to factory default:
