PostHow do I make the 920 automatically turn on?  Thu Mar 06, 2008 4:46 am    Reply to topic Reply with quote

How do I make the 920 automatically turn on when I start my car? I got it to turn off when I shut off the car, but I couldn't do the opposite. This is really annoying, some help would be appreciated.

As a 920 owner I can confirm there is no auto-on with the 920.

Correct,

It seems for some reason TT does not want to offer this feature anymore.

I can see why. You don't have to use your GPS all the time. I have to turn off my 760 a couple times because I don't need it all the time.

Well no, I won't be using the GPS feature all the time, but I will be using the Bluetooth hands-free feature every time. Why in the world would TT omit this feature?

Manufacturers frequently modify/add/remove features based on "perceived" market demand. (Sometimes simply just to save money).
Apparently TT determined the market didn't require it?

Come on, this is a software feature. How hard would it be to add this option and satisfy everyone? It's time I apply for a job at TomTom and set them straight, lol.

Believe me , my TT 510 is turn on when I start the car. There is one value in the TTSYS to be modified (if you dare to) using text editor. I download so many things from websites all over the world - I just cannot remember how. Wait for me , maybe I can dig out the info about that hack Sad Sad Sad
I don't have it turn off automatically though, over a bump it might turn on by itself.
I don't know why people care about such trivial things, forgetting about more important stuffs. Laughing

I only use my GO 920 in my car since it doesn't make a very good foot / pedestrian unit like my Nuvi.

Since I use my GO 920 in the car only, I want it to power on when I turn my car on and off when I turn my car off.

I don't understand why TomTom removed / disabled this feature. Every other brand does it.
