I just received my Dash Express and let me tell you how fast I got it. I ordered through their site early morning Friday and I got the Dash Yesterday afternoon and this was with free ground shipping with UPS, I paid 399.99 for this item. I am the proud owner of a Garmin 780 which I bought 2 months ago, I was new to MSN traffic, weather, news and stocks update. I like the Garmin but it has its flaws just like any other GPS. I read a lot about the Dash in the past week so I ordered it. There are so many comments from people that are trying to sell you this item without being sincere, I think they work for Dash and this is how they are launching their marketing campaign. Well I got pictures of this item and compared them to my Garmin 780. You will be blown away on how big the Dash is. Before I start all my comments let me just tell you that I didn't want to open this item at all, I thought why if I am happy with the Garmin why did I ordered this after hearing how ugly the interface is and how big the GPS is, well I got it at work so I didn't open it, when I got home I was staring at it, thinking about opening and I asked my wife and she told me not to and so did my niece, friends and relatives. So at that time I decided that I shouldn't and since Dash gives you a full money back if not used then I was going to do it but.... I beg my wife that I just needed to see it so I opened the box and took out the GPS very carefully and that's when it hit me... it was huge compare to my Garmin 780 it was huge!!! My wife called it, not a machine of the future but the past. She compared it to those old Hand held TV's. Well I got so much to tell you guys all I can say is that, after touching it and putting this next to my Garmin I mistakenly pressed the on button, so I decided to give it a try for 1 month which is the grace period to return it with a $75 dollar fee. Here is a small video enjoy http://youtube.com/watch?v=fJv4hXTWmX8. More stories to coming soon....
All I can say is that this GPS is huge and will scare you at first but then I realize that is really not that bad since you going to only see it from the front of the unit when you are driving. Well let me tell you that unfortunately I haven't had a chance to tried the unit because it can't locked into satellites, I drove around for 20 minutes yesterday and was raining hard so I thought oh ok maybe because of the rain but then I took it for another spin after it stopped raining and nothing. I woke up this morning took my niece to school and nothing. I put it outside the window for about 30 minutes and nothing. So I am still waiting for a signal and for a response from Dash customer service. I brought here to my job and its sitting at my office window with no signal yet. I do have to tell you an experience just so that you know how big this thing is... I went to the post office this morning and decided to take the Dash on my hand while walking towards the post office, it was so embarrassing people kept staring at it and when I got to the post office the security called me and said what you got there, I said a GPS and he didn't believe me so I got closer and showed it to him and he said I never seen a GPS so big sorry buddy but it has to go through the scanner crazy and embarrassing!!!! I am never going to take this thing on my hand ever again. Well not I own a small car and let me tell you that the cradle is also big, not difficult to handle but it takes some get use to, its not that simple. The Dash shook a lot when it was with its cradle in my car, so I let it sit on my dashboard and it was fine then. You can't leave it hanging it will shake. This doesn't happen with my Garmin. The voice command is loud enough, you get static when you get to volume 11. The best feature that I used was the send2car and the saved searches, that really feels like the future of GPS. The other thing is yahoo searches wow! that's all I can say WOW! you'll like it. Just to make it short I haven't really used it much because of lack of reception but once I do I'll let you guys know how it goes and compares to my Garmin.
