PostSaving "Favorites" on 720  Thu Apr 17, 2008 12:27 am    Reply to topic Reply with quote

My favorites are full on my 720. Is there anyway to open up more space to save more favorites? Maybe on my sd card I use for mp3s? We have approx. 200 customers and it would be easier to have them all saved to scroll for faster retrieval. Thanks!

You should add them as custom POIs instead of favorites. With custom POIs you can store a nearly unlimited number and they are easier to backup and easier to transfer to different devices.

Tim's absolutely correct. You are limited to a maximum of 28 favourites on a 720 but, theoretically, 'up to' 300 poi's.

I think it is 48 favorites and 300 POI categories with (nearly) unlimited POIs in each custom category. Wink

Can I easily create a custom POI list from Outlook contacts? And can I make a favorite one of those contact POIs?

Another way to look at my question is I am looking for a way to make a POI out of a recent or a Favorite.

You can make a custom POI from a recent destination or from a favorite, that isn't an issue. Making them from Outlook contacts is a bit more difficult because you need to get the lat/lon and rather than the physical address.

Thanks, IMO inputting address is one of the biggest issues with these GPS units. So it looks like either the unit would have to geoencode them as contacts on the device, or there must be an application that can geoencode them as they are made into POIs, I was thinking that Tomtom could use the PC side software to do it.

Actually I was hoping to be able to use my WM phone to BT them to a Tomtom.

Use POIEdit, open file mapsettings.cfg , delete the last lines which contain blanks & zeros, save as OV2 (POI category). All your Favorites and Recent Destinations are in that POI Category.

Ben already made Tim the "Junior Member", so I guess he's 6, I'll take 5. Since you're #3, that leaves Infama, Uncle Ben, and DHN to sort out 1 and 2. and 4Smile
