The content manager fix is being pushed out to servers later today, so should be tomorrow for real live. It will upgrade CM and provide re-install to customers that installed prior. That fixes the contacts issue.
SD card maps have apparently been released from the factory so it is up to the individual countries to make them available. Unsure when they will make it on the stores, but shouldn’t be much longer, is my guess.
The other bugs and issues are being checked out with a view to working on them.
I know you have no specific details on this patch, but do you think it may be worthwhile updating before doing my last route test? I've only got a couple more days with my "borrowed" HP.

It should not impact your trip if its a contacts fix. I would not do it just for the test.
Thanks Infama. Just didn't know if any other areas were cleaned up. I hope to get another in today. And yes, I'll get you co-ordinates as soon as I get to work.
I just connected and got a new download of Content manger, but was not offered a download for the Nav application. New CM version is 1.2.735.0 (2008041502)
I just pluged in my iapq after reading this and its taking forever just to download the new content manager. Damm thing seems to have stoped at 40% for the last 10 mins.
I just stopped it and started the download again.
Finally got the update but nothign to download. Maybe they gforgot to link the new application file to the download?
OK, the updated application is now being offered for download...
I will start after I back up my latest Nav folder.
Edit:
Based on the rate this thing is going at 10% in 26 mins for 201mb, this will be a 4hr DL. Ouch!
This seems slower than previously when I got 1446mb down and installed in 7.5hrs.
One word of caution...I think someone on anaother site may have found the cause for DL crashes. The iPaq may not be getting enough charge from the USB connection to maintain its charge. Its a good idea to make sure its charged up before dowing the DLing and also to verify that tthe USB port ia delivering enough juice to the iPaq to keep it awake during the entire process! Remember that the supplied USB cable is "special" in that it can sense the quality of the power source and adjust accordingly.
From Lutz Bendlin's review at PGPSW.com:
The Mini USB connector is used for data transfer and for charging. However, as we have already seen on other iPAQs (namely the 68xx series) you cannot use just any third party USB chargers.
USB charging issues
Looks like the USB port uses a special extended mode where the data lines are used to specify what type of charging should be done. Without that you will end up in trickle charge mode which is actually so weak that it does discharge the device over time.
If the right signal is present however the device switches into fast USB charge mode, accepting more current than the standard 500 mA. As a result in fast charging mode the device recharges in about two hours.
The strict requirement also extends to the car charger - make sure you do use the cigarette lighter adapter provided in the boxeven if you may have a prior installation in the car.
The mini-USB Garmin cable works like a charm! That's what I used when I did the last all evening update. As a matter of fact, I'm sure it's just happenstance, but on the initial try (and crash) I was using the HP cable, but on the subsequent successful install later on I was using the Garmin!
BTW, my DFL stpped for about 45mins. i had to cancel and restart (while still connected to CM). It seems to be going faster now and is smart enough to recognize that half was already downloaded.
Spoke too fast, it hung again!...OK, it started again on its own. Lousy DL rate with all these pauses.

Hmmm... my Magellan cable looks like a good fit as well. If it works I may keep that in the house and leave the HP cable attached to the windshield mount.
The CM update took me 4 tries and each time about 20 minutes. What a slow server! (The number of times was partly my fault. I didn't think you needed the unit attached just to update the software.)
Hey infama, do your contacts know if they will update the CM software at some point to add an option to "remove" unwanted files such as voices we don't need? TomTom Home does that and it seems like a no brainer. I'd like to clean my unit up a bit when all is running well with just deleting files.
Infama, that's why I strongly advocate thes types of large updates being supplied on DVD rather than download. My Garmin map update still took over an hour via DVD, but none of these connection/transfer issues.

You can already do that! The only thing you cant do is remove the application.
Just select the "Installed" choice with the drag down arrow and you will see what is in the memory. Then highlight the unwanted voices and click the red arrow icon to remove from the device. Also, you can selct this function from the menu bar.
I don't believe it's an authentication issue. The Garmin map update authenticates via web connection prior to allowing the update, then registers at Garmin by the same method.

Notice that Garmin is the common link there? Garmin to Garmin...perfect synergy.
Here we are dealing with 2 separate companies. I suspect that they have not finalized their commercial relationship to that degree yet... a work in progress.

Yes, same thing here. I've been trying for the past 7 hours, it only goes so far and then it gets stuck. And it doesn't pick up where it left off, it starts all over again. Not pretty.

Dont understand why HP does not distribute this a better way.
Ran the download all night hoping it would be done this morning. Got up and checked stuck at 38% with a pop up can't copy the file etc..
I said retry now its at 41% will leaving it again to download while i go to work. Hope there no pop message today.
When I had that "can't copy" message and chose retry in the last update it finished, but it never copied the file(s) I said to retry so I had to do it all over again. Hope that does not happen to you.............
The darn thing finally finished the update just now after 1 hang up attempt earlier this morning. It seems to be more consistent today, but it still took 5 hrs to downloadabout 190mb in total (with downtime of course).
Not pretty.
So far the destination history is preserved and susan sounds as good as she did after the mod. I have to see if the mod was indeed preserved. I know the mod for the nav screen was wiped out, so it may be a mixture of some kept and some deleted.
I had effectively 135mb before the update, not including the TTS mods (about 40mb), but after the last update its only at 109mb free, so the update ate up another 26mb or so.
I will report back on the Contacts and TTS in a while.

I started my download of this newest update yesterday at 7:00 am CDT, it took about 4 1/2 hours to download. It took me three times to get it to install correctly, "cannot copy" but it finally did after disconnecting the 310, rebooting and rebooting the PC. I see no difference on the unit, it still shows:
AppSuite Version: 30555
NAV Version: Mar 7 2008
Driver Version: 1.00.02
I can however now enter contacts into the 310 now without the reboot. It also looks like HP has fixed the navigate to contact issue.
