PostHow do you Enter ar ROUTE # nuvi200W  Wed May 21, 2008 11:27 pm    Reply to topic Reply with quote

I thought this would be simple.

I actually know exactly where this place is but I was fiddling my my nuvi 200W and tried to enter this.

This is the exact address that came in an email from a radio station.

<<<The barbeque will be held at 715 Route 52 in Beacon, N.Y. Punch that address into your GPS, or Mapquest, and we'll see you on>>>

Well I punched it in and it seems that I can't get the ROUTE 52 to come up.

Can someone else try it and let me know.

Do you type it in as ROUTE 52
or RT 52
or RT-52

I cant' get it.

Try just "52".

I feel your pain. Sometimes you have to try a couple different entry's to get it right. You can avoid some of the problems (ie, misspellings, misnamed) by typing just a part of the name and picking from the list. Also usually a bit faster to enter addresses that way, especially with long street names. Of course that won't help with "52". Smile

I don't get that address no matter how I enter it. The closest I get is 707 Hwy 52-Br. Since I'm in Colorado, I have no idea if that result is even in the same ballpark. Confused

No problem here on a 760, 2009 map. It's less than a mile from the River House restaurant on Park Place Very Happy

Also fairly close to the Sunoco on Hwy 9D

gatorguy - how come we get different results with the same device and same map? My 760 with 2009 maps can't find that street number (but can find the street in that town).

I show the (assumed) location on one side of the 52 Bridge, along the riverside.

According to the Navteq addressing, it shows on the bridge, so I would guess it's on one side or the other. That's the way I've always handled it when addressing didn't give an exact match. Within a thousand feet is the best you can do sometimes. Perhaps the original poster can verify the location. As a side note, entering 52 on the TA map gives no results or options at all. Hwy 52 is apparently "bundled" with I85 when you scroll thru all the available streets (TA)

But you see the same search results as I do, correct?

Correct. But that wouldn't be unusual when addressing is "assumed" in the map base would it?

I've got to teach you how to search on a TomTom. Smile

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say there... but I'll respond with this-- Whenever I don't get an exact match (any device) I can probably find the location, and the listed suggestions are probably close, but I'd certainly prefer to seek a different address from the source or otherwise confirm the location ahead of time. Since no street number matches were found, it could take us to any point on that street in that town... It might be 1000 feet from where it should be, it might also be 5 miles.

Enter 52, just 52, then use the arrow button in the top right to further expand the list. You will find "Route 52" (those exact words) at or near the bottom of the list.
