Importing Routes to 760 Fri May 23, 2008 4:55 am
I am trying to import routes provided from the trip leader. The files are "xxx.gdb" files from Mapsource. Question is - Where do I put these files so the Nuvi will recognize them?
In the folder provide re also some "xxx.sa9:" files but I think those are for a different GPS system.
Running Nuvi connected to Macintosh.
I can see the Garmin folder when connected.
Do the files need to be at any particular level, or can they be embedded in lower level folders?
Once again, us Mac users are sxxt outta luck. There is absolutely no vehicle to transfer a route with specific addresses to the nuvi through the Mac.
There is a beta program called "Bobcat" that will allow you to look at POI's and program a route by clicking on the map. The problem is, you can't do a route in Bobcat with a specific address. i hope they make that happen soon.

Thank you for the disheartening news.
While I love my Mac - sometime I do feel bit left out.
= = =
Lets hypothesize for a minute that I have access to a business PC laptop instead of my personal Mac computer.
Same question:
If I hook up my Nuvi to the business use only PC - And I was taking - say a legitimate business trip - - How does actually transfer the files, and where would you place them?
Crap.. I got the two threads confused for a moment.... sorry.
To do this on a PC you need the application called "Mapsource." Although I haven't done it, I've read about people doing it and i think it is all built in to the application. No Mac equivalent.

Route Files to Nuvi Fri May 23, 2008 5:35 am
If using a PC and the route files were .gpx , I would use Windows Explorer to simply copy them directly into the GPX subdirectory (under Garmin) on the 760. But I don't know about the .gdb format. But you can open the .gdb route files in MapSource and resave as .gpx. I would have thought that you could copy the files (in .gpx format) directly into the GPX subdirectory (ie don't need a MapSource like application) with a Mac, but I know nothing about Mac.

Resolved - Information from Garmin Fri May 23, 2008 10:32 pm
I talked to Garmin today - they explained that the .gbd files go into MapSource. and from that you can generate the .gpx files that go into the Nuvi.
They are being kind enough to send me a disk with the Mapsource program. I will have to run it on my business PC as it does not run on my home Mac.
If I was provided with .gpx files i would be able to place them in the GPX folder under Garmin.
We are still not able to utilize the Audible files.
