PostUpdating Maps (2009) to my Nuvi 650  Fri Jun 27, 2008 1:31 am    Reply to topic Reply with quote

DL the CN 2009 and got everything to run fine, unlocked, etc. Then i get to the point where the install program is asking me to select the maps I want to install (?). When I pick all of USA, then I get a 'you don't have enough space' error. I thought this just layed the new maps over the new ones or am I missing something Question Question

It does... Have you added any MP3 files, languages, voices, etc?

I've not added anything like that. Can I see the 2008 maps through the USB, if so, can I safely delete them and get on with the install?

How much free space do you have on your computer's drive? (I know that isn't what the message says.) Some users have received that message when their computer's drive had less than 3GB remaining... once they freed up some space it worked.

I'd avoid removing the old maps yourself if possible (though you might eventually need to) since the installer is expecting to do that for you.

Looks like I worked it out. Re-booted, checked the product key, etc. and this time it gave me the option to delete or move files to the pc. Not sure what .MP3/JPEG it moved, but the install/upgrade went fine. Nuvi seems to be fine. Road test in the morning..

All of this got me to think about the SD card.....(which i don't have), do you ever get to the point where the map upgrade is too big for the unit and you have to buy a card?

Thanks

That probably isn't likely on that Nuvi.
