Does the 255w have any problem w/ slow commands? Mon Jul 14, 2008 6:27 am
Hi all,
I'm a first time poster and long time lurker.
I noticed some complaints about some Nuvi's telling you to turn when you are "in" or "past" the appropriate intersection. I'm thinking 7xx?
Anyway, I was considering a 750/760, but now after reading, I think I'd like to get a 255w.
Is the 255w satisfactory when giving notice of upcoming turns?
Is the powercord/gps unit a PITA to disconnect or would you get used to it?
Does the InstafixII make the 7xx as fast as the 255w in acquiring a sat. fix?
All things aside, the only concern I have is with disconnecting the 255w compared with the 7xx models. I also take into account that I can get a 255w for $60 less than a 750.
I have read a lot on here and can't remember everything I've read!

The 7xx gives you plenty of notice for a turn. First, you'll see a permanent text reminder that you need to turn right in xx miles, way before the turn. Then within a mile of the turn (I think it's speed related) you'll be notified audibly. And then at the turn itself you'll be notified again.

Yes. I typically get a lock on my 760 within 10 seconds, even indoors.

I've had no issues at all with the instructions being late on my 255W. You have the really nice arrow there with the distance countdown too that you can glance at and see how close the turn is too.
