I am considering buying a GPS and thought I had gotten it down to the TT One XL-S or a Garmin but now have a question about map updates.....to begin with.
My first question.....of probably many......is how often do Garmin and TT update their respective maps, and how easy is it to get their updates and are they free or not?
TomTom releases official map updates about four times per year. You can update as often (or infrequently) as you would like. Cost is about $70 - $120 depending on the device and map.
Garmin releases map updates once per year. Cost is about $70.
TomTom also has MapShare which enables users to make corrections and share those connections with other users. It is free and available so long as your map is within about 1 year old.

Been meaning to ask about that. I can't imagine why you would need more than a yearly update, or longer, unless you are a traveling salesman, considering our city takes over a year just to add one lane to our interstate lol.
