What maps should be included with new 255w ordered in the US Thu Oct 02, 2008 2:41 pm
I just tried to order a new 255w and was told I should also order the 2008 maps since Garmin only includes the 2007 maps with this product. The company says Garmin charges $99 for these yet they would pre-load them for $50.
Is this for real or a way to cover up their "Low price" advertising?
Yes, I assume you are trying to order a low-ball price from a NYC based retailer that typically has "photo" in their name.... They are a scam. If you don't order their unnecessary add-ons the device will suddenly be on backorder.
And even if it didn't come with the most recent maps (which it will) you would get them for free anyway as part of the Garmin nuMaps Guarantee.
What store had you been looking at and had you placed an order with them? If you are interested in filing a complaint I can point you to some people that might really like to talk to you...
