It's received many positive reviews from users on Amazon.com here.
I have one and I find that it works pretty well. It doesn't move around, it's pretty stable. I also like being able to put it on the ground and out of plain sight when I park.
Picked one of these up tonight. None of the stores in my area had them, so I had my 360 direct me to a Best Buy on the other side of the river that did.
Anyway, opened it once I got back into the parking lot, and put it to use right away on the drive home. Definitely a solid and practical product. It's not going anywhere when you put it on the dash. Glad I bought it.

Beanbag mounts, etc. Sun Jul 22, 2007 4:40 am
I have a pontiac [no links to file sharing services], the windshield is a wastful 3 feet in front of me, so using the windshield mount was too difficult, and impossible for the wife (at 5' 2").
I used clear silicone sealant to attach the gluepad to the dash, mounted unit where it is now convenient for both of us.
(Silicone rubs off dash easily when I want to remove it)
It also won't slide when pressing on screen.
On the screen, do you folks use screen protectors? mighty cheap scratch protection.
The wallet that came with the 350 is just that, no belt clip.
I use an old PDA belt clip wallet, always have the Nuvi where I want it now.

I'm not currently using one, but have been thinking about it. Any recommendations? I'm pretty happy with the matte finish on the 360, and don't really want to add any shine to it.

Screen Protectors... Mon Jul 23, 2007 5:04 pm
I've always had good service from Pocket PC Techs, on pda repair and the screen saver.
check these forums for advice about them:

i stuck the suction mount onto my windshield about 5 months ago. when i removed it a few weeks ago the rubber disk was on pretty good. when i gently peeled it off the top surface of the rubber stayed on the glass. so now i have a ring of rubber on the windshieild and a damaged suction cup that won't stick to anything.
i just ordered a bean bag today based on the above input.
thanks for sharing.
I just got one 2 weeks ago. It's Garmin Portable Friction Mount for Nuvi, Street Pilot I Series (Part # 010-10908-00) available at Amazon for $27.99. This friction mount is awesome. It has a rubber-like surface at the bottom that sticks to the surface of the dash and it does'nt slide at all especially when you have a matte (not smooth) dash surface. It's quite easy to use. Just place it on top of the dash, mount your Gps and if you wish to hide it after use, just put in the floor or in any suitable place in the vehicle. It does not leave any mark at all, it has no glue, just a smooth sticky bottom. This friction mount is an incredible product. I wish Garmin substitute it for the optional dash glue mount that is included in the box.

I just picked one up at Best Buy as they were on sale for $29. A big improvement I must say. I am very happy with this add on and after having my standard windshield mount come off in a turn and watched my unit slide across the dash on on to the floor I knew it was time to get this beanbag mount.
Got the friction mount after my Nuvi took a dive off the windshield. Moved it to the dash plastic ring with same results. Problem solved with the bean bag BUT was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for removing the plastic mounting ring from the dash of my truck without damaging the dash. Thanks
GPSCITY.com has a dash friction mount for $14.95 that works fine for the Nuvi. Lots of other GPS stuff as well. I have ordered from them on several occasions and always get good service.
Looking at it, it seems to rely on the same suction mount process that has been a problem in other cases. Is there anything in particular that makes it more reliable?
You are correct, it does use the suction cup to attach to the friction mount. I have not seen one that has a different attachment. The GPS V had a velcro mount but this would not work with the Nuvi due to it's thin design.
I have not had a problem with the suction cup and find the bean bag more convenient than the windshield attachment. A little moisture on the suction cup makes it stick more securely.
Anyone here have an experience with this? Does it work well?

I picked this up at my local BestBuy when I first got my Nuvi and it works fantastic. It doesn't move at all while driving and I like how the arm slides in and locks into place making it very secure. If I were to find any "fault" with it, it would be that after I put Armor-all on my dash the rubber bottom tends to rub it off pretty quick, but that's really a non-issue

I ordered the Garmin beanbag mount from Amazon when I got my gps as one of their "buyers also bought..." promo's ...
The beanbag is the only mount I use....
Yes, in a crash it COULD go flying, but so could about 20 other things in my Excursion and sounds like the suction mounts reported here have the same issue

The disc is held on by double sided foam tape...
Take a piece of dental floss and put behind the disc. With both hands use a sawing motion. The dental floss will cut thru the foam to remove the disc and then you can clean off remaing foam/glue with something like goo-away ( or wd-40 ).
didn't check the site to see the beanbag mount talked about here, but i use a beanbag mount purchased from miejer online for $7.99. never used the windshield mount and never will. this works great in both vehicles - '05 chevy venture and '02 gmc truck. haven't had a problem and hides easily behind seats.

Compared to the Garmin OEM beanbag mount, that Miejer's mount is a POS.

thought so too when i opened it up but works great. like i said , have no experience w/ the garmin mount and after using the one i have i wouldn't spend the extra bucks to buy the garmin. could be my vehicles but haven't had a problem in either one.

I have had one for years. Originally it came with the iQue3600, but I modified it for the NUVI (took the suction thing and stick on and drilled out the old one; recently added pop rivets for more secure attachment). But it slides up foward on the dash during hard braking and hits the windshield. I am trying to think of a way to prevent this from happening. I currently wedge it into the left corner where it cannot slide. But I take it down all the time to hide it or to use it for paperless geocaching so it is moved around alot. Any ideas would be appreciated to keep this from sliding around.

I use one and it works fine... but, I'm worried if someone runs into me from the rear, will that bean bag 'knock' me out cold?? <g>

My slips because it is old and my dash is smooth. I have to find a way to fix it...cause I don't want to pay 30 bucks. Plus it is a 650 and not like the new NUVIs,
that's the one i have and it works great. the trianglular shape makes it easy to "hang" one edge over the dash in front and have the other 2 in back to make it more stable. the beanbag never moves but i've had the suction cup come loose a couple times. now i wrap the power cord behind and underneath the beanbag. it "short leashes" it so it can't go to far if the suction cup fails.

The black color of either the Garmin dash disc or the disc the bean bag mount shown above uses will absorb heat like crazy. The heat is what causes the suction cup to release. Having both the mounting surface (dash disc) and the cup black makes the situation even worse. Windshield mounting will not be as bad in most cases since the mounting surface is clear and does not absorb much heat (although the cup still does). You'll also notice that many products (GPS & others) that use a suction cup mount will use a clear cup for this very reason.
One thing I've found that helps hold the cup to the disc for a longer period of time in hot weather is regular undiluted dish soap spread thinly around the edge of the cup. When you mount it, it will slide around but after an hour or so after the soap dries a bit, will become solid.
I've tried many different cup "treatments" and the dish soap is what I've found to work the best, last the longest and be available virtually anywhere.

Yep...mine kept popping off also. I glued it on after that. After awhile it started to loose it grip also. Finally, I drilled it and used two pop rivets to hold it in place.

That doesn't sound like it "works great" to me.
That can't happen with the Garmin beanbag mount....no "buts" about it, and no "leashes: required.
This is the one I've got. Works well. The only time it's come off the dash was on a badly washboarded dirt road. Due the angle of the dash it slowly vibrated toward me until it fell off. Luckily I was watching it and caught it.
