Just wondering if anyone knows when 2009 map was released and if so when they will release the next map update 2010 version. Does new nuvi 755t currently being sold contain the 2009 map?

The "2009" map is based on data obtained from Garmin's mapping supplier in the second half of 2007. They have typically released map updates annually, near the end of April or early May. However there are rumors going around they will soon start to offer updates on a quarterly basis.

Those new models will come with the newest map, but even if they didn't they would still qualify to update to the latest available map within 60 days of first use.

I sure hope they have a map update in the next 60 days. Just bought a 750 for my wife and that map is over a year behind for 3 roads that I already encountered (new roads and road name changes).

Unfortunately stuman74, mapping doesn't happen nearly that fast. New roads often take a couple of years from the time they are mapped, to getting committed into the mapping database, to the GPS company purchasing new data from the mapping company, to them converting the data into their formats, to the media becoming available, to you purchasing the update and installing. It just isn't a quick process.

Thanks for the quick reply. I also have a TomTom GO 720 (well, it's a 510, but works almost exactly like a 720). The latest map on that unit which is about 6 months old has all 3 of the correct updates to the roads that I described. Maybe it's just a Navteq vs TeleAtlas thing or something. Anyway, I like the Garmin 750 and hope the maps get updated soon! Are they typically once a year?

I have a similar experience. My TomTom maps seem to be more up to date. However, on the downside, the TomTom maps seem to be more likely to mark a driveway as a road.

In my area the Tomtom's maps correspond exactly with what I see on maps.google.com

LordH,

Isn't Mapshare supposed to fix that...by users BLOCKING those driveways and informing the community?

If so, the 800 series map will be much improved in a month or so with MS downloads.
